sewing sally

My weekend goal is to clean out the studio and plan out some new sewing projects! The studio was overrun with wedding madness all summer so I'm happy to dig back in for some new things for me for fall.

Autumn please!

Fall is my favorite season, and it was never more welcome than now, after one of the most sweltering summers in Georgia history. I know we have at lease a month left, but please autumn! Come quick!

Sartorial Desire for Fall

Christine from My Style Pill has nailed the perfect fall outfit, in my opinion. I have been coveting a sequin skirt and black leather tassel necklace, and who can go wrong with an amazing tweed blazer with elbow patches? And then to top it off, a nude snakeskin clutch. I'm so envious I can't even express it.

And then there's this photo of Freja Beha. Focus on what's going on with the top of the photo and not the toothpick legs and crazy Balenciaga shoes. I adore the color and texture of that mohair, and it goes so perfectly with the understated shorts and green belt. It verges on Cookie Monster but in just the right way! (Not a sentence I ever thought I'd write.)

last chance

Look, I want to love this world
as though it’s the last chance I’m ever going to get
to be alive
and know it.

craving autumn

I miss autumn today. I am tired of the heat of this summer, and autumn is my favorite season in Georgia.

Some photos from last fall:

AUTUMN.
The morns are meeker than they were,
The nuts are getting brown;
The berry's cheek is plumper,
The rose is out of town.
The maple wears a gayer scarf,
The field a scarlet gown.
Lest I should be old-fashioned,
I'll put a trinket on.
